Press Release: Incident Update May 19, 2025
Re: Critically Injured EMT
We are happy to report that FF/EMT Dan Shedal’s condition is improving. While still in critical condition, Dan is conscious, alert and smiling. There will be a long road ahead; but a smile of reassurance lets us know that everything is moving in the right direction.
On Sunday May 18, 2025 Dan was transported to Paoli Medical’s Level II Trauma Center with head and neck injuries. After evaluation and stabilization, it was deemed medically necessary to transport him to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia for a higher level of specialized care.
We appreciate and are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our neighbors and colleagues. We are also grateful to have been supported by several regional and county agencies over the last 36 hours. They have worked tirelessly to ensure resources are available to us.
As we work to identify the events that lead to this injury, we will continue to decline any comment on the matter until a factual timeline of events has been established.
In the interim, we continue to ask that you focus your prayers and thoughts on all of those impacted by this injury.
